A Journey to the End of Time

The Solar System in 3D, in real time

A simulation of the Solar System driven by real ephemerides. The Sun, the planets, Pluto and the major moons, space probes, the International Space Station, nearby stars and the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way are where they really are at the chosen moment. You can run time from 1700 to 2100, fly from one object to another and look at the sky from anywhere on Earth.

New Horizons is a NASA probe launched on 19 January 2006: on 14 July 2015 it became the first and so far only mission to explore Pluto, and on 1 January 2019 it flew past Arrokoth, the most distant object ever explored up close.

At launch it reached the highest speed relative to Earth ever given to a human-made object. At Pluto it revealed a large bright region shaped like a heart. On 1 October 2024 it was 60 times farther from the Sun than Earth.
